Privacy
We store your email, the name you choose, your photo if you upload one, and the songs you write. Your password is not stored: only a hash that cannot be turned back.
All of it is processed to give you the service you signed up for: having an account, keeping your songs, and letting you write with the people you invite. Nothing else.
Your email is used to sign in and to recover your password. No marketing is sent, and someone sharing a song with you does not see your address: only your name and your photo.
Verses runs on our own servers, and profile photos are kept on an image server that is also ours: neither the songs nor the photos are handed to anyone outside. The only third party is Zoho, which delivers the email the site sends and therefore sees your address.
Your data is kept while the account exists. Closing it deletes the data right away: no switched-off account with your email inside it.
There is no third-party analytics and there are no tracking cookies. There are two cookies, the session one and the invitation-link one, and both exist to know who you are as you move from page to page.
From “Your account” you can download everything of yours —a ZIP with the lyrics of every song and a record of the account— and delete the account yourself, without asking permission: that covers access, portability and erasure. Your name and photo are corrected on that same page. For anything else, write to the contact below.
The only thing that cannot be removed is what you wrote inside someone else's song. It is mixed with what the others wrote in the same block, it is as much their work as yours, and pulling it out would break their song.
If you believe this is not being done properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).
Who is behind this
While the cooperative that will publish Verses is being set up, the site is run by an individual, who is the one answerable for your data. The full identifying details —name, tax ID, address, registration and a contact address— will be published here as soon as that entity exists. In the meantime, whatever you need to do with your data you can do yourself from “Your account”: download it and delete it.
